MARIST OLD BOYS.
ANNUAL DINNER. G-eneral jollity prevailed in the Car'ton Cafe last night, when the second annual.reunion of the Marist Brothers' Old Boye' Association was held. Over 120 old boys sat down to dinner. '.The evening passed quickly with mimic and; speeches. Before welcoming those present, Bro. Pheian, Superior at the Marist School, apologised for the absence of the Association's president. Sir Geo. Clifford, and his Lordbhlp Bishop Brodie. On behalf of the Association Bro. Pheian congratulated those old boy* who had participated in all branches of sport. Trophies won on the Soccer field were presented! by Mr E. English, president of the Canterbury 'Football Association. Presents and Trophies. A tangible token of esteem was presented to the Rev. Father Gregory, an old boy of the Marist School,, who, with Father Halley, of Dunedin, was welcomed to the gathering tr Bro. Pheian. Both visitors suitably replied.
Having been congratulated on winning the ChrißtcmiPch East eeat, Mr H. T. Armstrong, M.P., expressed thanks for the remarks made about him. He urged the boys to play the game, and become 'good citiiens. Mr U. McCormack, a member of the controlling body, presented the McKcon Cup to the winning senior League team. The trophies won in the sports held at Monica. Park recently in connexion with -the Queen Carnival wore presented by .Mr F Smyth. A presentation wan also made to Mr J. Ellis, a distinguished' and representative footballer, for the keen interest he had taken in the various sports. An orchestra, consisting of old boys, played a programme of popular musi^.
