BURWOOD NEEDS.
PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION MEETS. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Eurwood Progressive Association was held in tho Methodist Sunday a!c|ioolj;oom, in New Brighton road. As no improvement Lad been mado to the Queen street culvert, it was. decided to leavo tho matter in the hands of Mr H. Patterson, who will bring tho Association's request before tho Waimairi County Council at it? next meeting. Tho secretary was instructed, to communicate with the Drainage Board with rcfeienco to flooded lands at Burwood, and to urge that tho floodgates in Lockslcy avenue b 0 put into working condition, and also that tho willow trees from August's corner to Banks avenue and near the corner of Averill street be cut back, in order' to rnako travelling safe. It was decided to call the attention of the City Council to the increasing traffic in Banks avenue and tho need for a wider rnad. It was suggested that property owners should be prevented from fencing the high bank of the Dudley creek, and that tho Telegraph Department should remove tho poles, several fret hack irom tile road. Tho secretary was instructed to refer the following matters to the Waimairi County Council, and to ask for urgent attention:—Lights on River road Tbetwecn Mcßratney's load and Dallington bridge, and tho apT>ointment of a ranger for the Burwood, Shirley, and Marshland districts, on tho ground that the district' s.s at present' constituted was too large for ono. ranger.
