TRACK RACING AT RANGIORA. CHRISTCHURCH CLUB'S. MEETING. The first motor-cycle race meeting conducted by the Cbristchurcb Motor Club was held at the Rangiora racecourse on Saturday afternoon. From the point of view of attendance the meeting .must be classed as a success, and the hundreds of spectators were afforded thrills in plenty. The dry weather had made the nine-furlong course' very hard, and in splendid order. As was to be expected, the track became, very dusty, so much J">o that at tihies the riders were completely obscured from view. The entries in '«11 the events were large, and as a. result some interesting- racing w-hh witnessed. The afternoon's- sport was .toiwtml by two casualtics, but otherwise the meeting passed oft without a. bitch. The results were as follows: - NOVICE HANDICAP, four' laps. McLcnnen (1J New Comet) 44sec. ( In the fourth lap Monkman touched Batt on the first corner and. both come down, Monkman being- injured .in the face and foot. Bat.t was unhurt. Monkman was conveved to hospital. T?.. Milner (4 Triumph) went to the front and retained the lead for most of the way, with R. Love and O. Williams in close attendance. In the last lap Love took the lead, from Milner, closely followed by Piper and McKenzie, and these three passed the post in that order. It was stated at (he close of the meeting that a protest had been lodged against the placing of R. Love, due to some confusion regarding the numbers of the competitors. NORTH -' CANTERBURY MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP (limited to machines up to 600 ex.). Five laps- and five ■ furlongs. First prize £5 andi geld medal, second £2,.third £l. E. Hore (3J Douglas) m«de the pace from the Btart and maintained his lca<l until the third lap, when he had to withdraw from the race owing to mechanical trouble. Marsh took his place at the head of the field and maintained it till he passed the judge's box. The riders kept the positions they had occupied at the start.
