DEFIES X-RAY.

♦ • MUMMY AT LUXOR. (W C4»LB— PMBS ABSOCUTIOH—COPtaiaHT.) " (Sydnet "Sms" Smvicb.) CAIRO, November 20. The removal of Tutankhamen's mummy is impossible, owing to it being firmly glued to the bottom gold of the coffin ,by a pitch-liko material formed from libations. A golden mask reaching to the thorax is also firmly glued to both the face and the coffin. The features of Tutankhamen prove that the statues and effigies found in tho tomb are exact portraits of' the King. Numerous layers of golden faience ornaments, including amulets showing royal insignia, which covered the bodv to the knees, preventing 5-raying. Spontaneous combustion had destroyed the bandages and-caused the silk underlying tissues to become thin and brittle, thereby exposing the joints, wherefrom it was established that tho King was 18 years of age.
