There was a good attendance at the Harbour Light Theatre on Saturday night, when "A Desert Flower," starring Colleen Moore, was screened, together with a good supporting programme. Mr Dowell, a Christchurch tenor, sang three songs pleasingly, to the evident appreciation of the audience. There will be no pictures to-night, the theatre having been engaged for the Convent School concert. To-morrow night will see the presentation of "Mother Machree," a stage play that has been having most successful seasons at all the leading theatres, including ihe Theatre Royal, Ohristchurch. In Denis Kehoe. who plays the principal role, playgoers will see an artist of many accomplishments. Not only is he a finished actor who has played everything from Shakespeare to. broad farce, but he also is a musician of considerable ability and the possessor of a resonant singing voice, which ho uses most effectively. He accompanies his songs most effectively with an Irish harp. Appearing with Denis Kehoe is a most talented supporting company. "Mother Machree" is a comedy-drama of a clean, refreshing type, and essentially one that young and old will enjoy. The reserve plan is now open at Hatton's.
