: ' EXPERIMENT IN OHINEMURI AUCKLAND SUGGESTION. (press association telegbau.) AUCKLAND, November 20. The application of the corporate contro] licensing scheme in the Ohinemuri electorate is proposed by the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Licensing: Reform League. It was decided at a meetitig held to-day to place the suggestion before the licensed trade, and also to urge the acceptance of the proposal on the Government. Reference was made to the position arising from the carrying of restoration in the Ohinemuri electorate, it being the unanimous opinion of those present that a splendid opportunity was at hand for the inauguration in that electorate of some system of licensing control. To that end the following resolutions were carried: — (J) "That a loiter be sent to the chairman of the Provincial Council of the Licensed Trade, suggesting that some pclieme of licfeasing control approximating as far as the present law will permit to the corporate control pfooosal fqr which this Association stands should be attempted in tho O&ncmuri electorate." (2) "That the Government De urged to make a thorough examination of the position presented by tho carrying of the restoration vote in the Ohinemuri electorate, with a view to the inauguration, if possible, of a scheme of licensing control in that electorate." (3) "That as any 'goodwill' existing in the Oliinemuri electorate in the salo of alcoholic liquors }b that created by the vote of the people, and is therefore the property of the general public, the restoration of licenses should be carried out in such a way that the general public of that electorate shall benefit by sifch 'goodwill.' "
