COLONEL MACKESY DEAD.
• DISTINGUISHED SOLDIER. (press association telegeam.) WHANGAREI, November 20. Colonel C. 13. It. Mackesy died suddenly at liis home in Ytliangarei at 11.30 this morning. He was born in Dublin in 1861 and since 1891 had been a resident of New Zealand. He gavo distinguished service in the Great War. He left with the Main Body iu 1914 jn command of the Auckland Mounted lliflcs, and served five and a> half years* abroad. He was several times in command of the New Zealand Mounted Brigade, and also Military Governor and Administrator east of tho Jordan as liaison officers with tho King of the Hedjaz. He was an accomplished linguist. One son, Lieut. Harry Mackesy, was killed on Gallipoli. He is survived by two others sons and his second wife. N
