ENGLISH PARK STADIUM.

FITZGERALD-SOWDEN MATCH. To-night, at tEe English Park Stadium, the publio will be given an opportunity ot witnessing a first-class programme of cyc'-iing, whippet racing, and running. Tho chief attraction will be the meeting c<f Mick Fitzgerald, of Australia, and Cyril Sowden, of New Zealand, in. a match race ever three distances, an itftpaced quartermile, and 1 a paced half-mi!e and threequarter mile. Both riders are first-dies performers and wiu give the public a splendid exhibition of cycling. Arrangements have been made for the winner to meet F. "Jumbo" Welle in a natch race at the Stadium later in the season. Two big handicap events will also be decided, a quarter daeh and a mile open, in which all the leading cracks Till participate. Among the contestants will be Phil O'Shea, the etar rider cf New Zealand, Jack Henderson, a popular Christchurcli performer, Jack Bearman, and Cyril Sowden, who defeated O'Shea in a mile scratch, race last seasyn. Dan McLennan, the young sprinter, who has come into prominence during the put year, will run against a whippet clog over a hundred yard?, the whippet conceding him a start of 35 yards. Sixteen whippet dogs will race eff for the New Zealand Gup Handicap, for a priie of £25. A hurdle race, in which four picked doga will -take part, will also be held. A programme of music will be played by Berry's Mlititry Band. The Bports will commence at 8 o'clock.
