W.C.T.U.
The North Canterbury District Union of the W.C.T.U. held an all-day session .at the rooms of the Christcliurc.h Union on Wednesday. The unions represented were Riccarton, Seftou, Rangiora, Sydenham, Opawa, Papanui, New Brighton (senior) and Young People's' Branch, Templeton, and Christchurch. Mrs T. E. Taylor, district president, presided. The figures in connexion with the licensing poll were discussed, and satisfaction expressed that in most of the country districts where the Union had been at work an improvement over the vote of 1922 had taken place. It was reported that unions had been formed at Hokitika and Westport. Preliminary arrangements were made for the annual Dominion Convention of the ■ Union, to be held in Christchurch early next year,- and extensive plans for the continuation of campaign work were discussed.
