A brown shark, eight or ten fact long, was cruising round the Ptmsonby bayß, Auckland, on Monday. It went round tho curve of Shelly Beach evidently looking for morsels, then skirting the Ponsonby Baths, took a short eut over the reef off Point Erin, where it nearly grounded on the reef, but just managed to get over into the deep water. Sharks are not common in the harbour, and as a rule when they appear as early as this it means that a hot summer is ahead.
