"BRITISHER."

TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." Sir, —May I, by your courtesy, enter a protest against the increasing use of that objectionable and incorrect Ameri-, canism "Britisher"? Would anyone think of saying "Spanisher" or 'Trencher," or even "Americaner "? Yet each would be equally correct. The use of this term is the more inexcusable in that we have already the excellent English word "Briton" to express the same idea. In your news columns a day or two sineo we were told that "St. George was a good Britisher"! To bo so described is enough to make the good Saint turn in his grave.—Yours, etc., ENGLISH. November 18th.
