— : —4 _ GOVERNMENT'S PROPOSALS APPROVED. (»T CABLE—PSISS ASSOCIATION— COFTBIMT.) (AUSTEALIA.V AND H.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) PARIS, November 17. The Socialist Party by 3G votes to 12 decided not ■to contest the Government's financial proposals at to-day's meeting in tho Chamber. Tho Socialists' decision is important in view of tho oponing of th» Chamber to-day, when there wi)l be a momentous financial debate, which is expected to last at le&st a month and in which Herculean efforts will be required to obtain even a narrow majority for the GovenunenVs proposals in both Houses. The Government's difficulties aro increased by the fact that the proposal must bo voted by December Bth, when two and a half milliards of Treasury bonds fall due for repayment. Having no funds to redeem tho bond 6, and in order to avoid resorting to inflation, | the Government proposes to suspend payment and to give the holders other bonds in exchange.
