NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. A meeting oi the Management- Committee of the jNftw Zeaiand Cricket Council wrs held on Wednesday. Present—Messrs D. Reese vin the chair), E. R. Cavgill, A. T. Donnelly, K. M. Taylor, and J. F. Peake (honorary secretary). An apology was received fro;ii Mr J. S. Barrett, who was out of town, whilst Mr W. H. Winsor was absent in Australia. The honorary secretary of the Board of Control wrote under date October 10th advising that the Board could not rescind its resolution to permit of the Australian team travelling- to Jingland via JCew Zealand. The Otago Association advised liaving accepted December 25th and following dates for the Canterbury v. Otago match, and said it had suggested New Year dates to Auckland, and January .29th, 30th, and February Ist to Wellington. The application from tho Buller Cricket Association, with headquarters at Westport, for affiliation as a. minor association, was glinted. A telegram was read from Mr 12. R. Xeale of Xcison, .1.3 follows:—"There is a suggestion that we endeavour to become attached to the Wellington Plunket district in order to get men into their annual Town v. Country match, as apparently we are too far away for Canterbury. "Would it entail much formality on the part- of the Council, and could it bo done in time for this year's matches?" After discussion it was decided to send copy of the communication to the Wellington Association asking for its views and to notify the kelson Association to this effect, andi to add that it would necessitate notice of motion to alter Rule 9 of tho rules governing Plunket Shield and interprovincial matches.

The secretary to the Governor-General wrote advising his Excellency's acceptance of the position of patron.

J.he Marlborough Association challenged for the Lawks Cup, and: the secretary's correspondence to the Marlborough and Blenheim Associations suggesting that the match should be played early in December, was confirmed. Til© committee accepted the Standard Insurance Company s. Quotation for insurance of the members of the touring team. The honorary eecretary of tho Australian Board of Control wrote under date October IGth covering particulars of arrangements made by him, and enclosing copy of tho itinerary.

E. R. Caygill, chairman of the Selection Committee, submitted a report, which was received.

Mr W. R. Patrick's appointment as cap tain was confirmed.

It was decided that the Selection Committeo should consist of tho manager c&ptain, and Mr J. S. Hiddleston. The Wellington Association a match to be played at Wellington, against Wellington, on November -18 th and 19th Tho committee approved of this, and it was decided; to advise "Wellington that the matter Lad been tinder consideration for some time and the members of the team had already been communicated with regarding tho extra two days' leavo. The secretary was directed to writ© Wellington upon the question of terms. Replies received intimated that almost the full side of New Zealand players would be available.

The chairman and tho honorary aecret&ry' were authorised to make any necessary arrangements regarding tho financing of the tour.
