$ Jumble Sale. A jumble sale, under the auspices of the Presbyterian Kose Show Committee, will be held in the. Presbyterian Schoolroom tomorrow afternoon. Anniversary Celebration. There was an attendance of thirty ladies at the meeting held in the Council Chambsr yesterday afternoon for tho purpose of forming a committee to arrange for the catering »t tbo 75th anniversary celebrations of the arrival of the First Four Ships, to be held on December 16th. Tho Mayoress (Mrs F. E. Sutton) presided. Those present were formed into the committee. It was decided to purchase most of the provisions, and to make a charge of one shilling per head for those attending tho high tea in the Drill Uall. Magistrate's Court. Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. James Gamer, waterside worker, was proceeded against by Robert Wood for continuing to use and occupy as a dwelling premises at Ticehurst road in respect of which a closing order was in forco under tlic PuUic Health Act, 1920, after October 2nd, the date of tho said order. Mr P. D. Hall appeared for tho plaiuliff. Garner pleaded guilty. Ho had done his very best to procure- another house, but without success. Defendant, when questioned as to his earnings on tho waterfront, said that last week he had drawu £3 6s, while tho previous week his earnings amounted to £1 8s 6d only. Mr Hall suggested tho issuing of a summons for ejectment. The Magistrate agreed to this course, and said he would convict defendant and suspend penalty until Novcmbor 6th, the date rued for the hearing of the ejectment summon.
