T!io iitic of the IP-yoar-old Countess of SeafTcld, a peeress in her own right, was challenged at the Court Sessions at Edinburgh by Alexander Grant, retired tutor, aged 70. He declares that he is the son of the seventh Earl of SSeanehl, whereas the Countess is only the child of, the eleventh Earl. Mr Grant alleges that the seventh Earl, when Viscount Rcidhaven, in 1846, married; by verbal contract aboard a sailing vessel. Caroline Stuart, the youngest (laughter of the eleventh Lord Blantyre, because she wits about to become a mother. She was carried ashore at Banff on the back of a seaman, and gave birth to a child the same night. Grant was that child. The marringo was later celebrated in London, but every effort was made to hide the original birth. The baby was handed to a gardener at Nordou Castle and given a university education by the aid of money provided the foster parents.
