"THE WHITE SISTER."
+ FEATURING LILLIAN GISH. "One of the most powerful pictures ever filmed," is the description of "Tho White Sister," which features Lillian Gi3h. On account of its wonderful drawing power, it will be placed for a, season of one week at the Liberty Theatre (commencing on Friday, November Gth), to be followed by two weeks at the Grand Theatre. This opens up both the New Zialand and Australian season for this picture, and it will no doubt prove to be one of the outstanding productions of the 1925-2G oeasou. It is declared that to state that "The White Si3ler" is wonderful is only speaking mildly on the subject. No one can pass through its gripping, thoroughly fascinating influence without feeling profoundly moved, ft is drama as drama was first conceived to be: strong, elemental, passionate, and ruthless. A love tale more tragic has never been penned. The story of Angela and her soldier lover separated' by siuh an impassable hairier, and Lillian Cish's remarkable portrayal of Angela, is (lo quote Constance Talnmdge), ."a. perfect cameo of brilliant, noignant, beautiful acting." The story i 3 of one who renounced the world and took vows .thinking her lover was dead, when suddenly from the very gates ot death he returned—thus the impassable barrier. Special attention is beins directed by the Liberty management to the production oi this classic of the screen. A beautiful prologue has been arranged to precede its screening, and a special music score has been made bv th? producers ci • the Sim (Metro-Goldwyn), this" being rendered by i;n augmented orchestra under the direction ol Mr Moody. The management declares that this will'be an event oi Christchurch film history, and anyone missing the opportunity of seeing the rjicture will long regret i'. The box plans open at The Bristol on Wednesday nest.
