Rosen did not go south for the Riverton Racing Club's Spring Atceting, but returned north after the (Jauiaru Meeting. Mr J. C'aniji'on, judge for the Oamaru Jockey Club, returned north lust night. At the Omarama non-totalisator Meeting this week, Wristlcr and Zeus appear amongst the acceptors for different events. Grand Lupin and San Fera are mentioned as horses to follow at the \Vaverley and Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Meetings this week. Grand Lupin filled third place behind Bisox and The Thorn at the Wanganui Spring Meeting and Sail Fera was a winner at the North Taranaki Hunt Meeting in August. Whittier, by winning the Caufield Cup a second time at an interval of three years, was repeating the performance of Hymettus, who won the race in 1893 and 1901. Whittier won his first Caufield Cup in 1922 with 0 13. The list, for the imported horse Night Raid has filled for this season. Several mares put to him last season have foaled and the youngsters are a very attractive lot. Bookings are I now being taken for next stud season. Count Cavours dam Bon Bor.i (Boniform—Ormolu) has this season produced a brother to the dua: Derby winner. The mare is now on a. visit to Thurnliam at Longheacli stud. j Sir Geo. Clifford's team for the Wellington Racing' Club's Spring Meeting comprising Rivalry, Scotch. Wit, Serotina.'and Barn Owl will leave for Wellington to-night. P. T. Hogan may also go north at the same time with the hurdler Captain Sarto. Mr G. D. Greenwood's three-year-old filly Chignon was destroyed oil Saturday. She fell on the roads some time ago and injured her knees liidly and complications which set in made the course taken a merciful one. Chignon was a good galloper by Absurd — Lady D. and as a two-year-old last season won the G'merack Stakes (for two-year-old fillies) at Randwick. THTs race was worth nearly £2OOO to the winner.

TROTTING NOTES.

Acceptances for the Grey mouth T.C.'s Spring Meeting close to-day at 9 p.m. Tliere was little or no work of importance at Addington yesterday. A large number of horses were on the course, and the majority were exercised without the straps. A. Fleming worked Locanda Mac yesterday over a journey at half-pace. I From start to finish the Brent Locanda gelding / shovred a tendency to favour his off shoulder, and whether the' soreness is temporary or otherwise will take a few days to ascertain. Don Wikl is being kept up to the collar and is fast getting into racing condition. He worked over a short course yesterday and showed up in a favourable light. The following are tho recont foalings at Mr H. F. Nicoll's stud farm, Durbar Lodge; Trix Pointer a colt, Pearlchild ft filly. Pearl Pointer a colt, Precision a filly, Victoria a colt, Lutine Bells a colt, and a half-sister to Pearlchild a filly, all to Wrack, and j they all visit him .again, while Biddy i Tracey, S.M., Wild Queen, Jlegina , Belle, Our Nurse, Manuka, Friendship, Little Doris, Queen Cole, Echo, Macushla Macliree, and Kirriemuir are booked to the American sire. J>. Warren has a useful team in work ,at Durbar Lodge. H includes Latona, Sea Pearl,. Gibraltar, and Dumas, the four well-bred three-year-olds Lingfield, Koran ton, Sandown, and Avr,° all engaged in the Great Northern Derby at Auckland in December, and a thrct-year-old trotter Hurst Park; beins: prepared for tho I'orbury Park- T.C.'s New Zealand Trotting Stakes. Peter Bingen has joined J. J. Kennerley's string at Belfast. At presen the brother to Great Bingen is on the easy list. After his work-out at Addington on Saturday the American trotter Brigand went lame and it will be some time before he is fit to race. The failure of First Carbine on the opening day of the Auckland T.C.'s Spring Meeting would not bo too pleasing to his admirers in the New Zealand Cup Handicap, and in view of the fact that he is not nominated at the coming meeting, he must be regarded as an unlikely starter. Logan Lass by Logan Pointer is at Oaklands farm, Halswell, on a visit to Travis Axworthy and a. Logan Pointer —Phingari mare is to be mated with Brent Locanda. Recent foalings at Mr P. Watson's j stud farm include Sadie Dillon, a ! chestnut colt to Real Guy, Najicy •Maxwell a cbeifitnut colt, and a Galindo —Monica mare, a brown colt to Brent—Locanda. These three mares will visit either Travis Axworthy or Brent Locanda. Mr Claude Walsh's mare Bonnie Thorpe foaled a bay filly to the Ameri-can-bred sire, Wrack, at Westport on September 28th.
