Airs J. Guniry has returned to Le Bon's Bay after spending a few weeks with relatives in Christchurch. Airs A. Crotty has returned to Lo Bon's Bay from Akaroa, where she was staying with her mother, Airs Hall.On Thursday, Miss Jean Murchie was hostess at a delightful novelty afternoon, held at Ballantyne's private icception room, the guest of honour Iteing Aliss Thelma AlcKenzie, marriage takes place shortly. The table was beautifully decorated with marigolds. A competition which caused much amusement was won by Aliss Afavis AfcKenzie. The Nazareth House garden {etc will l>o continued in the grounds at Nazireth House this afteraoon and evening. In the fine memorial hall at Lincoln College on Saturday night, an excel; lent, concert was given to a crowdeu and enthusiastic audience. including, many visitors from town. The following " contributed to the programme:— Captain and the Hon. Mrs TaJm Rhodes. Alisses Asnes Richardson, Alollie Stevenson. Ella Clark. Joyce Staff, Atessrs Frr-.nk McDonald, Bernard Rennell. Blundeil Hawker. B. Brown, and Broker, and the Lincoln College Orchestra and chorus. A most enjoyable "p : nk and blue, shower"' -was given by Miss Odie Kerr at her home in Chapter street in honour of Miss Thelma McKenzie. who is shortly to be married. Amongst those present were Atesdames C. P. Agar, A. F.. Chapman, Alisse< Odio Kerr, W. Robertson. H. M. Benton. W. Bowhves. M. Mckenzie. E. Corby, T. McKenzie. T. Coleman, E. Smith, and L. The usual meeting of the Selwyn Nursing Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade was held an Tuesday evening Miss Ironside. Lady Divisional Superintendent, presiding over a large attendance of members. The usual routine business -was transacted,- aim it was decided to forward a letter of congratulation to Miss E. M. Johnston, former member of division, on her annointment as Principal of the f.'irls' Oram mar School. Auckland. Dr. ILi/.0l Allison 'rave a vcrv instructive address on digestive disorders. On Saturday evening in St. Johu's schoolroom. Latimer square, the members of the Yonne "Women's Guild gave a concert., the proceeds of which will augment the guild's contributions to foreign missions. The concert proved a great success and consisted of the following items, all of which wero contributed by guild members, with the exception of the finale, in which the company was assisted by a locai "Harry Lauder." pianoforte solo and duet, recitations, songs, chorus. !k burlesque entitled "Wild Nell." and a farce "Our Aunt from California." and the finale, "Raggm' Thro' the Bye." On Saturday evening, a delightful little party was held at the residence o. 1 ' Mr and Mrs W. Jackson, Cashel SLreet, in honour of the coming-of-age of their eldest daughter, 'Miss ¥. Jackson. Games, competitions, musical items, and dancing were indulged in. A sumptuous supper was provided, at.whjcb Miss Jackson was presented with a key and the customary toasts were honoured. A cheery little gathering took place on Saturday evening, when members of "1/Atelier," a ooterio of students from the te>c*hool- of Art,- held their opening night.. The studio in Cashel street, gay with lamp shades and coloured streamers of orange and purple. Thirty works in oils and water colours, paintod by the members, were hung ion the walls, and one wall was occupied by a largo mural decoration pointed- by Richard Walhvork, A.R.C.A., and kindly lent by Mrs R. AVallwork. Dancing, music, and games were enjoyed. A feature of the evening was the novel illumination of the supper table, the warm glow of draped lights being wonderfully effective. The Canterbury Agricultural College could not have had finer weather for their annual athletic sports, which were held at the grounds, Lincoln, on Saturday. The day was fine and cloudless with a light easterly breeze tempering the hot sun. The well laid out grounds were in splendid order, and a large gathering of visitors watched the events and strolled across the clipped lawns. During the afternoon tea was served in a marquee in the grounds, and the College orchestra played a number of selections. Amongst those 1 present were:—Mr and Mrs 11. A.
