Tho following arc the results:— , Linwood v. Edgeware. Edgeware beat Linwood by five matches to one. Singles. R. Roberts beat Leslie, 3-6. 6-4, 6-2. Longton beat Coster, 5-fi. 6-2. 6-5. A. Roberts beat Murly. 6-2. 6-4. Berry lost to Hastings, 2-G, 6S. t Doubles. R. Roberts and Longton beat Leslie and Coster. 6-3, 6-4. Roberts and Berry beat Marly and Hastings, 6-2, 6-4. Opawa v. Avonslde A. Opawa beat Avonside A by four matches to two. \ Singles. Barlow beat Ferguson, 6-4, 6-3. Harman beat McKay, G-3, 6-5. Steeds beat Seager, 6-3, 6-2. Clayton lost to Bobin, 1-6, 6-3, 2-6. Tho United Tennis, Bowling-, and Croquet Club's 1925-26 season was. officially opened on Saturday by the Mayor (Mr J. K. Archer), who was accompanied' by the Mayoress. In introducing' the Mayor, Mr D. McDonald, president of thai club, said the financial position of the club was good, and that the • membership stood at 550. Tho courts were, ho believed, the beet in the Dominion, and praise was due to tbe excellent work done by Mr J. Campbell (caretaker of the. lawns) and his staff. Never before had the tennis courts and bowling and croquet greens been so splendid to play on. Warm congratulations were bestowed upon the club by the Mayor, wbo said he had great pleasure in declaring the season open. Chee,rs were given for the Mayer and Mayoress and during the afternoon t<Ja was dispensed. ' In the evening a- euchre party and dance was held in the new pavilion. HALSWELL V. BELFAST.
