BRITISH FASCISTS.
SPECIAL CONSTABULARY ABANDONED. (bt cable—press ASSOCIATION —COPTEIGHT.) (RKUTER'S TELEGRAMS.) LONDON, October 7. Attempts bj* British Fascists to enrol special constables have been abandoned in Liverpool, Manchester, and Wolverhampton. A letter from the Chief Constable of Manchester to the commander of the Manchester Fascistis was read at a meeting of the Manchester City Council, iu which he declined the Fascists' cft'er to join a special Constabulary. The Chief Constable said he was confident that Manchester citizens, in the future as in the past, would be ready to help the police in maintaining order in cases of emergency. The Scottisli miners' conference at Glasgow adopted a resolution protesting against th-3 .organisation for the Maintenance 'of Supplies, expressing au opinion that similar organisations would be used against the miners in the event of industrial conflict.
