PROGRESS LEAGUE.
MONTHLY MEETING. The loathly meeting of the eiecntive of the Canterbury Progress League was held last evening, Mr P. H. Ulackwell presiding. A vote of sympathy with the relatives of .the men lost in tho Like Coleridge difa&ter was carried. A report on the allocation of public expenditure war, presented by tho organiser bnt discussion Fos held over. Member* of the Executive commented on recent developments re-pectins railway matters. Mr E. 11. Wyl« ■:•. tendered a report on immigration, leaking - reference tn '.he formation of the Dominion Settlement Association, and advocating the institution of a permanent Government Immigration Commission. It v.-as decided to co-operate «iili the Chamber of Commerce in calling a r.pecial meetinr having as it? oh-eci the setting up of an interim organisation to promote immigration.
