The prices realised for tat cattle at Burnside to-day made the sale the dearest of the season. There was a further advance of more than £1 per head on laat week's high rates. Store cattle sold well and so did the handful of spring lambs that was penned. Sheep were somewhat dearer, and pigs brought high prices. Fat Sheep—The entry comprised 1560 head. Good ewes were again forward, and there were a number of peniings of extra prime wethers. The entry was mostly of fullwoolled crossbreds, with " some 200 fine wools. Graziers were buying. The demand at the opening was 23 up on last week's prices, and it ,eased for a- time, but recovered, and the sale ended with prices equal to those * obtained when it opened. Extra prime heavy wethers made from 50s 6d to 57s 6d, prime 44s 9d to 47s 6d, lighter sorts 38s 6d to 425, extri prime heavy ewes 475, prime 39s b'd to 445, and lighter from 30s. Lambs—Six spring lambs of good quality were forwarded, and sold at from 41s to 46s 6d. Fat Cattle—There was a yarding of 228 of very fair to good quality. There I were some extra heavy prime bullocks and j well finished heifers and cows. The deI mand opened well, and prices soon liardI ened till they reached last sale's values. I The improvement cor.tinucd, and the sale finished strongly with prices more than £1 higher than those of last week. Extra prime heavy bullocks made £27 10s io £3l ss, prime heavy £23 to £24 10s, light prime £lB 10s to £2O~ 10s, extra prime heifers £l9 ss, prime £l3 to £l6 10s, lighter from £9 15s, sood cows £lO to £l2 3s, aDd prime £l4 10s. Best ox: beef made 65s to 66s per 1001b, extra heavy 60s to 62s 6d, best heifer 52s Gd, and other beef 37s 6d to 50s. Store Cattle—There was a yarding of llfi head, made up of medium quality old and young cows, and a dozen moderate two and a half-year-old to three-year-ofd steers. The latter made from £6 to £B. All conditioned cows met with a good demand, but » other sorts were rather dull. Pigs—Very high prices " were realised for the 97 fate and 67 si-ores that were forward. The price of baconera went up to more than £7, and porkers <brougiit up to £4 13,. Stores made up to 465, suckers 28s to 30s and slips up to 36s ' COMMERCIAL REPORT. C. Smith, of the City Market, conducted an aurtion sale on account of the owner on premises. Colombo street, stock, etc., of confectionery business. Principal items sold were: Pet Avery scales iltf 10s, set Fairbanks scales 37s 6d. set Candy scales £l4 10s. 3 icecream churns 3<>s to £2 7s ~6d. window 22s 6d. Auction Sale of Furniture. H. (•'. Smith, of the City Market, conducted a sale of furniture account Messrs Taylor and Cox. at Templeton.
