ADDINGTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the Aldington School Committee'was held on Tuesday evening, when there were present: Messrs Geo. Wear (chairman), A. E. Beardsley, Chas. Kent, Thos. Greig, John Ealham, o»as. Fisk, AVm. Coote, and Mrs Thrower. The headmaster reported that the average attendance for September quarter was 672: the roll number at the end of the quarter 786. The boys' hockey, team had won the B Grade competition for schools, the coaching being done by Mr W. J. Edwards, to whom much credit was due. Correspondence was read from the Addington Amateur Swimming Club, asking for the use of the baths for the ensuing season, and for the revision of the agreement made for the control of the baths. A request was also made for the baths to be cleaned and refilled for the opening day. It was decided to have the bath prepared for the opening day. A letter of congratulation was accorded the winners of the hockey competition: also the coach of the team. Some discussion arose regarding the delay in receiving swimming certificates gained by pupils, and it was decided to write to the Swimming Centra, asking that the matter bo attended to. Messrs J. L. McCracken, T. McGee, and H. Manhire placed before the committee the views of the Swimming Club regarding various matters of mutual welfare to the club 3nd the school.
