SISTINE CHOIR SOLOISTS.

FIRST CONCERT ON SATURDAY. On Saturday evening, in the Choral Ha'.l. the new party of soloists of the celebrated Sistine Choir, will give the first of a series of lour concerts. The box office indications are thai a packed audience will erect these well-remembered singers in their new atmosphere. The present combination includes rive members of the company which visited New Zealand three years azo. and lour singers from the A'atican Choir which toured America under the persona! direction of Monsignore Kella. Local music-lovers will rejoice to see in the personnel of the parte such we!!remembered names as Paganelli. Facehini. Belli Sarti. and the inimitable Maestro Casolari. The newcomers are Burani. a young baritone with a voice of amazing volume and excellent quality. Auchner. a dinger of considerable culture and refinement. Morgia. a lyric tenor with an uncommonly easy style, and Ferri. a basso of invaluable weight and depth. At the opening concert in the Auckland Town Hall on Sep-, tember sth. the Soloists were greeted by a crowded and enthusiastic audience. To the surprise of most of the listeners, it was found that the new combination was not only equal, but in many respects superior, to the Sistine Soloists of three years ago. The concerted singing was vastly improved, and the programme presented was of a more diversified interest, embodying old Italian madrigals, scenes from the earliest operas, and modern arias, many of which had not previously been heard in the Dominion. The elaborate costumes in which the polyphonic numbers were given, added a delightful touch. The dates of the Christchureh concerts are next Saturday. Monday Tuesday, and Wednesday. The box plans are at The Bristol Piano Co., where a number of good seats are still available.
