RUGBY UNION. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. ■ The Manasem"")!* Committee of the Cantc:';tirv Rugby Union met last evening. There were present: —Messrs A. Dcy 'chairK. V. Phillips, A. Duggan, W. Maxwell. ''"he local branch of the Mavy League wrote that they were arranging a commemoration of "Nelson Day" for October 21st and asking for tho u»ual donation-; of a wreath. The usual grant of a wreath was nude. An application from the local •military for the use of the. night training ground in Hag ev Park for thtee months was discussed. The Domain Board ha-i already granted them use of the ground and it was decided to allow them the use o: the lights. t . The Hornby School w-rote Mating that tne report of a certain &ch<x>lboys' team having won a competition referred to a 6th or 7th cri-a.de team, playing under'the League code, and had no official connexion with tho | Hornby Schooi. Competitions Winners. The winners of this year's competitions in the vanous grades were as follows:Senior A. Old Beys: senior B, Christchurch; junior, Old Boys; third grade, A section St. Bede'3, B section Halawell, C section Sydenham: President's Cup, Halswell: third gra-le (under 20), Old Boys A; ■I th grade, Mcrivale A: fifth grade, lan wood A; f>th sradc, Technical B; 7th grade, lanwood A: Evans's Shield, Old Boys; Hedpath Memorial Shield, Old Boys. Finance Committee. The Finance Committee recommended: That a grant of 10 guineas be made to the. Canterbury Centre of the Amateur Athletic Association; that Boys' High School be paid £45 19s lOd to cover tournament expenses; that the proceeds of the Victoria College Canterbury College match be paid to 'Varsity. These were agreed to. The chairman stated that there would be a balance of about £l-400 on the season's activities. The committee recommended that ■a sum net exceeding £IOOO be paid to tho ground trustees. It was decided that this bo done. Recommendations. It was decided to bring tho following recommendations before the annual meeting of delegates. That, injured players may be replaced up ti'l half-time. That in order to keep the- competitions compact, the Competitions Committee be j given power to divide any section containing more than fourteen entries into 2. Other Matters. The question of ft Junior Advieory Board to deal with under age football, waa held in abeyance pending a meeting of club representatives to discuss the matter. Messis A. Dey, C. S. McCully and A. McPhail were re-elected to tho Lancaster Park Board of Control, as the "Union's representatives. RUGBY LEAGUE. QUEENSLANDERS PLAY TO-DAY. The Queensland Rugby League team -will play another match against a, Canterbury thirteen at Monica Park this afternoon, -at 2 30. Tho visitors have been playing great football recently, and they always delight the spectators with their fine handling, speed, and unorthodox methods of scoring. They will be fielding a very strong fide today, and as ihe ground is in good order, despite the rain, patrons are assured of seeing high-class football. Canterbury is fielding a good, ycrang side, who will ettive their beat to keep the flying visitors in check. This -will be the" last match the Queens* landers will play in the South Island, and thav finish their tour with a match against Auckland on Saturday. The team to represent the visitors is as folloiro: QUEENSLAND TEAM. Full-back: E. Frauenfelder. Three-quarters: W. Spencer, J. Craig, J. STcßrien, W. Paten. Half-backs : C. Thompson, C. Connell. Forwards: J. O'M&ra, A Henderson, N. Potter (captain), P. Parcells, H. Liebke, H. Steinhort. There will be changes in the local team, as J. Crooks replaces E. Fitzgerald in the backs, and G. Dawkins goes in the forwards. Mr E. Jones will referee the game, wuich will commence at half-past two.
ASSOCIATION. TEAM LEAVES FIELD. ASSOCUTTOH TELEGRAM.) HAMILTON, October 6. The Rotowaro Association football team, walked off the field in r game at Huntly on Saturday, as an expression of dissatisfaction at the referee's ruling. The South Auckland Association will make a full investigation of the matter. Recently a Thames team took a similar action, when terms of suspension were meted out to tho players concerned.
