SISTINE SOLOISTS.

NOTABLE MUSICAL EVENT. Few musical events could be calculated to excite such widespread interest as the forthcoming visit of the world-famous Soloists of the Sistine Choir, who will maka.their reappearance here in the Choral Hal! on next. Saturday evening. The new party of Sistine Soloists was organised in Rome a little more than twelve months ago by Maestro Casolari for a tour of the United States, which duly proved one of the most successful musical enterprises ever known in America. With one exception the Dresent combination of Soloists is identical with that which achieved such signal success in America. The personnel is as follows:—Tenors, Signori Paganelh, lacchini, Sarti, and Morgia; baritones, Signori Burani and Auchner: basses, Signori Belli and Ferri. The musical director is Maestro Emilio Casolari, who has spent eevera month 3 ransacking the music libraries of Italv for old madrigals, motets, and other concerted numbers, many of which are being featured bv the Soloists on the present tour. Signori Paganelli, Facchini, Sarti, ana Be.U are well remembered in New Zealand as Soloists with the great Choir which visited this country some three years ago. Of the newcomers, the most notable is Amedeo Burani, a young baritone with a voice of magnificent quality and tremendous range. Buram's singing in Sydney -and Melbourne recently created something of a senßatiou. Many of (lie critics declare him to be the finest baritone heard in Australia in recent years. Burani is only 03 years of age, and is described as being of commanding physique, and with an engaging platform manner. A feature of .the Soloists' programme, will be the presentation of classic Italian madrigals and motets of the seventeenth century. These delightful old numbers will be given in the appropriate costume of the period. There will also be excerpts from grand opera —old and modern —folk-songs and ballads. The box plans for the four Christchurch concerts are now open at The Bristol Piano Co.
