The Chrislchurch .Ladies' Club will play a bevrey match on. Wednesday. The partners will be drawn Jind entries close ' with the secretary this evening at 5 p.m.

to the vagaries of the weather last week, all matches arranged by tho Hagley Ladies' Club had to be abandoned. A match of interest to be played this week will bo between Mrs Watts-ltyan and Miss Overton in the final of the championship (bronze medal division). Both players have been improving their game this season.

T. H. Horton, the Slasterton player, did a 69 at the Hntt last week-end, in a,team match against J. -L. Black, who returned a 72.

Norrio Bell, of Hamilton, won the South Auckland championship at Hamilton last week, bating "W. U'Callaghan, of Hawera, in the final by 8 up and 7 to play. •

In the final of tho Hawko' ; s Bay championship,, G. M. l>odgßhun, of Gisborne, defeated Kapi Tareha, Napier's mighty hitter, at the 38th hole. The contest was good and both players equalled the bogey of the course, ui their afternoon rounds.

The Avondale Club have returned ,what looks liko a sure win for the "Walker and Hall Gup competition, their team of four all having scores well below three under the bogey/ of the course, which is the limit allowed by the Golf Council. The bogey is 79, and the best four scores on Saturday were:—

J. R. Grange ... 93 24 69 J. E. Stokes ... 83 10 73 L. Prankish ... 89 .16 73 J. Martin ... 89 10 73

The 1925 Now Zealand diampionship meeting is upon us, and from all indications it will be a most successful meeting. Tho entries, as set out in another article, are highly satisfactory, few of tho leading golfers of the Do»minion not having entered'. Some of the entrants are on the ground.already getting local knowledge. The course will be in good shape, regardless of the wet season. Even if the rain continues right up to the date of, the championship, Shirley will come through with flying and maintain its repnta.tion for being the finest wet weather course in the Dominion —that is, so far as championship courses are concerned. Cormack, the greenkeeper, is a little disappointed that the continued wet weather has had the effect of holding back the growth on the new "Norwest" gr^« n . a^ 3o on " Ter ra Nova" fairway,; but tho treatment that he intends giving'this portion of the links will still make them quits playable. A little sunshine would be most acceptable, but we are not at all . downhearted. From a golfing point of view —owing to the weather —the test may' be a little more severe; but generally speaking the links will be quite good.

I A team, from Shirley played a friendly match at Ainberley during the week-end, which, resulted in a win for the Christehuroh Club by ten matches to eight. They were lup in the singles and J up in the fotuyball matches. The second round of tho Cluh Championship was played at Shirley on- Saturday E. M. Macfarlane beat AI. 11. Godby bv 3 up and 1 to play; R. A. Wilson, beat' O. W. Haverfieid 3 and 2; C. A. Quane, who has been playing aix improving game for some months, beat O. A. iSeymour 4 and 3, and W. P Anderson had one of his good days and beat H.-W. Macfarlane 3 and 2. The semi-finals will be played next Saturday, E. AL Macfarlane playing C. A. Quane and W. P. Anderson playing R. A. Wilson. In the second round of the Cox Cin>, also played on vSatur-v day, A. H. Glasgow beat A. W. Morgan 2 and 1, P. S. Foster beat J. D. Marks 2 and 1, S. Gerard beat J. F. D-nncan 1 up, R. Francis beat D. Hoare 3 and 1. The semi-finals of this event will also be played next Saturday, when A. H- Glasgow plays P. S. Foster and S>. Gerard plays 11. Fraineis.

Skinner wero all square at the end of IS holes and played a second round, only to find themselves square again, and they will have to pjav another full round. E. B. Scarvell and P. E. Clearv found, after completing * their round, that the allowance of strokes had been taken at improper holes and their match will also have to be plaved over. Other results were:—l. G. LIST OF ENTRIES. Tho following are the entries for the Open and tho Amateur Championships. The list comprises almost all the prominent golfers. It is to be regretted that L.
