A GOLF PLAY.

SOMETHING NEW. : "KID BOOTS.* ' The box plans for "Kid be played.for the first six nights, will be opened at The Bristol Piano Co. on Thursday morning next. Judging by the great interest evinced » urday next. "Kid Boots" is swd to be the wost sumptuously caparisoned musical con* edy ever presented by the Williamson fiim. The 'opinion of a leading Melbourne cntio is as follows: — .„_», . , ■■ "The scenery, . whioh was designed and painted by Messrs W. R. and W. Coleman and George Opward, was on a most lavisn scale, and there was a gasp of amazement as one beautiful scene gave way to another in rapid' succession. A stosm of applause greeted the great rain scenc r which threw the eun-drenched gtflf course into such brilliant relief, with its green that would acl.ght the heart of the most hardens* golfer. The beautiful Moorish arches of the patio with the perspective of the green bj.ond was a splendid background for the wonderful gowns worn by the smart people of the club, as portrayed by the scores of dainty chorus girls to whom the workmanlike attire of the male golfers provided a foil. The huge golden lace Spanish headdresses cf ;the picked show girls and the chorus in their brilliant robea, filled the stage w;th a riot of co:our that was only equalled in the kaleidoscope of fancy costumes at the coconut ball.' It was a marvelkus living picture of sumptuous silks and satins, -where in the modern costumes of the hostesses were an advance fashion parade, and the others a feast ci mediseval beauty, recalling the royal masques and pageants of long ago. The beautiful Mai Jong ballet was a delicate study in blue and black and brilliants, in which the dancers moved with a.l the undulating grace of the winds they represented. .. A wonderful example of the. stage nHfthanioians' art was the moving platform on which the orchestra made its appearance at the ball. "At the conclusion of the first act, Mr Geo and Mies Melville were brought bef«>re the curtain again and again. Miss Josie Melville's personal triumph recalled memories of the ovation accorded principals' of the Grand Opera Comnany. When the curtain fell finally, it was* upon a memorable performance of. a play whioh is an assured success."
