CHRISTCHURCH GUN CLUB.

A RECORD PERFORMANCE. There was somo wonderful shooting at Sockbum on Saturday afternoon, when memr bers of various Canterbury Gun Clubs competed ior a Webley and Scott iammerleas ejector gun, valued at £SO. The conditions were 10 birds each from handicap distances, and the standard 35-j*rd boundary. A number of possibles at the tenth round were anticipated, but no one thought that the winner would have to shoot forty-one without a miss. Thi3 is without a doubt a record pigeon shoot-off at Christohurch, and probably for the Dominion. N. Powell, of Springston, put up ' this excellent performance, and the runner-up performed almost as well, ehooting forty in succession, and missing: the next bird. The runner-up was Alan Anderson, of Oxford. The match started a little before- two o'clock in a very bad lieht. Thirty competed', and' at the end of the tenth found thero wore eight possibles, as follows:

Alan Anderson, 22yda ». 1111121111—10 C. Jamieson, 24yds .. 2111222112—10 A. N. Turner,' 26vds .. 1112111111-^lO J. Skilling, 25yds >. 2121211111—10 F. Frampton, 22vds ... 12111121,11—10 R, S. Taylor, 27vds .. 2121121121—10 A". Powell, 22yds .. 1112121111—10 J. Horrell, 22yds .. 2111121111—10

The above divided the prize money, amounting to £l2, and then shot off for the gun as first prize, and a trophy valued at five guineas as second prize. J. Skillinp and A. N. Turner each lost their second birds, C. Jamieson and,' F. Frampton missed in the fifth round. R. S. Taylor and J. Horrell were the next to drop out, they both missing- in tbc 21st round. This left in N. Powell and Alan Anderson, and they fought it out until the latter miseed his 31st bird in tho shoot-off, leaving N. Powell the winner of the first prize.

In failing light a start was, made at shooting from 33 yards, all competitors off the same mark. The first sweep was divided by C. Jamieson and E. F, Stead on the second round. The second sweep went a little further, F. Truscolt and A. N. Turner dividing on the fourth round. The third sweep was divided by H. M. Wright and A. N. Turner at tho second round.
