The Dominion secretary advised that in order to prevent any duplication m junior immigration matters, he had decided to allow the Under-Secretary, Immigration Department, to run the scheme in future. Hie secretary stated that since the change, one bay had come to South Canterbury. The boys were turning out well, and the experiment was proving a success. The Minister of Agriculture wrote stating that he would be' pleased to meet a deputation .from the Union regarding the price of manures, when he came to the South Island after Parliament had closed. The secretary of the Wheat Board forwarded a pi'ogress report drawn up bv the sub-committee appointed to draft an agreement with millers respecting the marketing of milling wheat from the 1925-1926 crop. The chairman: From the appearance pf the world's market, the price tor wheat this year will be higher than ever before. Mr, Ward said most people were- of the opinion that tlio price was a fixed one. The chairman said this was not the case. ' Mr Talbot said the fixed price, say", was 7s and the world's market was Bs, then the millers would give them 7s 6d. The Government would then step in and say that they were not going to allow bread to go higher than one ( shilling. The chairman said he. did not think the- should interfere with the price of wheat this year. Air Talbot said when they Svere talking wheat, they would have to talk flour, and no Government could bo expected to put nn embargo on flour. Mr rxMvis said wheat was coming in now free of duty, and thev could not get far by discussing the question. . Mr Talbot said he would sooner have a set price of 6s than receive 8s this year and 4s next. The. bottom might dm" out of the wool market and where would they bei' On the motion of Mr Lewis, it was decided to instruct the .delegates not to approve of the agreement, as it was too indefinite. WOODBURY. At the monthly meeting of the school committee, the following members were present: —Messrs J. Fifield (chairman), J. Rice, B. Barker, and ]?. Fifield. The balance-sheet for the recent school dance was presented and a very acceptable credit balance disclosed. It was decided to-apply to the Education Board for a grant towards the cost of installing electric light in the residence. A circular was received from, the Education Board regarding the establishment of a reserve of trees in connexion with the school. The committee approved of the proposal. The Ladies' Rifle Club shot for a trophy presented by Mr R. Morrison, the winner being Miss V. Crawford, with 06. The. Men's Rifle Club fired a match against the Orari Bridge team, and won by 8 points. The scores were:— Orari Bridge: W. Sugrue 31, F. South 34, Jim SculN- 33, D. Scully 33, W. South 33, C. McDonald 32, M. Morris 32, 'M. Ford 31. J. Kelliher 31, J. Scully 30; total 3"23. Woodbury: I>. Henev 3-3, H. Wooding 3-5, J. Shaw 34 D. Fergusson 31, R. Wooding 33, A.-Riches 33. H. Hammond 33, F. Fifield 33. B. Baker 31. B. Fergusson 30: total 331. Mr Gray's .cup was again won by A. Riches and now hecomes his own property.

Messrs Urlwin, Broome, Carlson, .:nd Robertson, who Lave been in Woodbury, have returned to Christchurcli.
