CHINAMAN TO PAY £ls. (passs associatios telegram.) DTTNEDIN, September .11. Yet another case under the Licensing Act was heard in the Magistrate's Court at Milton to-day, when a. Chinaman, Wah Lee, pleaded • not guilty to keeping liquor for-sale in a no-license area. \ In giving judgment, the Magistrate, Mr J. H. Dixon, said that defendant had had a fair quantity of whisky, and the onus was on him to satisfy the Court it was not for sale. Defendant earned £6 or £7 a week, and yet he paid about £6 in wages. He had not satisfied him that the liquor was not for sale. Defendant would be convicted and on account of his apparently poor financial position -would be fined £ls, and costs £o 13s.
