Barrow Fair. The Tennis Club's annual "barrow lair" attracted a large number to the club hall on Saturday evening. The fair, though not quite equal to last year's, wis undoubtedly a. success. The seven barrows that .paraded showed considerable skill and taste on the part o£ thq&e who decorated them. The judges, Mrs Stout and Mr W. McDowell, awarded the prizes for . the best barrow and party to the Cake barrow. The Sweets barrow was runner-up. A special prize was awarded tha Grocery barrow for the most original. At the commencement of the fair Miss J. Hay sang "Heigh. Ho! Come to the Fair" and Miss A. Oetgen "Cockles and Mussels." Mr 3 Loney was accompanist. During the evening musical selections were played by Miss E. Vealc (piano) and Mr V. Prebblo (cornet). Good business was (lone, ' and it is estimated ,that the club's funds will benefit to tho extent, of £2O. , The barrows and costerrnongcrs were as follows:—• . Fish . costemHvngcr, Mr P.. Nixon. Cafco barrow , ("The Cake Shop," . a clever ronresentafibn of a huge wedding cake): — Mesdamcs C. Flavell and F. O'Flynn and Miss' K. Wenmoth. Sweets barrow (a miniature dreadnought): —Miss J. Hay and Messrs E. K. and. N. Loney. Fruit barrow (neatly decorated in appropriate colours):—Miss C. King and Mr S. Radoliffo. Produce barrow ("Bill Kon Lee and Co., ' market pardeners)-:—Misses. A. Oetgen, D. Westbrooke and Mr W. Connolly. ■. Grocery barrow (skilfully decorated as a windmill): —Misses Amy Oetgen, L. Hill and Mr W Oetgen. • Drinks barrow (sweet.lv decked in green and gold):—Misses B. Salt, M. King and Messrs A. E. McDowell and T\. King. Dips barrow (prettily decorated in red and 'white):—Miss,es R. King and O. Ts'ealc. Pie cart:—Messrs E. Dickey, C. Hedgman and. J. Bvans. Bifle Club Activities. Although : the Rifle Club has not yet; recorded a- win, it has- put up some good performances. A • friendly .match has been arranged with t.Hs New Brighton Ladies' Club. The Tisdall Button, competed "for weekly, was won last week by I/. Gamblin. A gold medal for a handicap competition has been offered by Mr Fred. King. . S Social. St. Mary's spring show committee. . continued its series of socials last Thursday evening, when the cpJkc stall conducted an enjoyable entertainment. Thero was a good attendance. Dancing, interspersed with musical items, made 11 the programme.
