* SPITZBERGEN ANNEXEr (BT CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPTRIOHT.) (EEUTEIt's TELEGRAMS') OSLO, August 14. Norway has formally taken, possession of Spitzbergeu, which in future will he named Svalbard. Tlio event was celebrated solemnly at Long Year City, Advent Bay. The Minister of Justice, reading out the proclamation and hoisting tho Norwegian flag, announced the appointment of a Deputy-Prefect. LECTURE BY AMUNDSEN. NORWEGIAN ROYALTY ATTENDS. (AUSTRALIAN ASD Jf.Z. CABLE 4550CJATIOH.) (Received August 16th, 5.5 p.m.) OSLO, August 15. Captain Amundsen lectured to a crowded houso, including tho King ana Queen, Princo Olav, and the British Minister. The lecturer praised his coworkers, and showed excellent pictures. :
