IMPERIAL CONFERENCE. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAJI.) AUCKLAND, August IG. I Th© Aorangi, which is bringing twenty-eight Empire Press Union delegates, lias been delayed by bad [ weather. Slio is arriving at about 7 o'clock this evening. The party is being met by Sir George I'onwick, chairman of tho New Zealand Uranch of the Union, and other members of the branch. They will be accorded a civic reception to-morrow morning, and tor tho remaincdr of the day will bo tho guests of the proprietors of the Auckland daily newspapers. To-morrow evening they will attend a ball to be. given by tho Northern Club to the officers of tho American Fleet. On Tuesday morning they will leave by special train for llotorua, where a tour Qf tho thermal regions, extending over three days, has been arranged by the Tourist Department. Alterwards visits will be paid to AVaitomo, Taranaki, Wanganui, and "Wellington. A dinner, under the auspices of the Press Union, will bo held in Wellington on Wednesday, August 26th. The delegates leave Wellington for Sydney by the Ulimaroa on August 33th. In addition to a distinguished party of delegates from Great Britain, Canadian delegates on board are as follows: Mr j. W. Dafoe, "Free Press," Winnipeg, and Mrs Dafoe; Mr J. H. Woods, "Calgary Herald"; Mr W. A, Craik, "Industrial Canada," Toronto, and representatives of tho Weekly and Periodical Press; Mr C. F. Crandall, British United Press, Montreal; Mr John Bassett, "Montreal Gazette," and Mrs Bassett; Mr Hugh Savage, and Mr O'Leary and Mrs O'Leary. With the party is Mr H. E. Turner,! secretary of the Empire Press Union and Mr W. O. Fairfax, who is attached to the delegation. I - I
