The deceased, who was born in the Bay of Islands, was a granddaughter on both sides of two of the earliest missionaries of New Zealand — tho Rev. Richard Davis and Archdeacon Henry Williams. Mr and Mrs "\Y. F. Saunders entertained over forty guests at their residence, Walsall street, Riceartcn, to celebrate the coming-of-age of their son, Percy. An enjoyable evening was spent with games,'music, competitions and dancing. A dainty suppor was served. A diamond shape cake, decorated with twenty-one candles, was cut by the guest of the evening, and the usual toasts were honoured. Mr Percy Saunders was presented with a large gold key. The evening closed with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne." BALL AT WADDINGTON. Tho Shefiield Town Hall was the scene of a. very pleasant function on Friday evening, when the bachelors the district held their annual ball. The hall was effectively decorated v.ith evergreens and streamers of the bachelors' colours, navy blue and white. Excel cut music tvas rendered by Bradford's Orchestra of four instruments. Credit is due to Mr J. \V. Green, who successfully carried out the duties of the secretary. Messrs J. W. Green end C. D. fc'ealev acted as Masters of Ceremonies. The grand march was led bv .Miss Aileen Rickerby (Greenparkj and the secretary, Mr ,J. W. Green. Owing to th? inclement weather a crowd were prevented from gathering. Amongst those present were: —Moadames W. Pi;ge blue satin; Alt. Batea, navy marocain with Oriental trimmings; H. C. Pnge, black chiffon taffeta; C. H. Withers, green satin marocain; W. E. Sturgess, blue marocain; Misses A. Pope (Chriotchurch), primrose cropo de chine; Margaret Wareham (Kaikoura) pink satin; It. Carr (Greenpark), roue pink marocain with bend trimmings; Klla Jenkins, velvet; B. Wripht, blsck frock; Jjillo Ferguson. pink satin and radium lace; Aileen itickerby (Greenpark), mauve brocaded .silk with ostrich" feather trimmings; G. Ferguson, mauve marocain; 0. K. Sealing, brocaded art silk; Caroline Thistoll, souple satin; N. Page, fawn dress; A. E. Jenkins, nigger silk Ve'vet with tangerine trimmings; Mary P. Wnreham (Kaikoura), uncommon mauve satin with champagne trimmings; M. Bryson, sky crepe p'egante; 11. Doikie, shot taffeta; Messrs D. Mitchell, J. A. Nuttoll, Geo. Bradford T. B. Hughes, C. E.
