In the Budget provision is being made for an increase in in,valid and oldage pensions to £1 weekly, simultane- ; ously with the passage of such portions of the national insurance proposals as . may be approved by Parliament. An' additional sum of £198,729 is ■ ' provided for defence. Estimates for war and repatriation are increased by ■ £00,545. War pensions'are estimated v,' to cost an additional £21,774. ■ t .. The estimated requirements of the Postal Department total £10,616,435, I - and estimated revenue £10,710,000. Commonwealth railways show an esti•v mated deficit of £53,010 for the'year. It is proposed to exempt from tax ation land used exclusively by any club for cricket, football or ether games where a personal profit is not derived . by individual members. No entertainment tax will be payable I , where the price of admission is less than; half-a-crown total. The estimated loan expenditure is :'\ Legislation is proposed enabling 5 , land-owners to obtain money on easy * conditions for the erection of verminv ' pi oof fences.
