RIVAL BUSES.
NEW BRIGHTON ROCKETS. An allegation that a Tramway Board bus travelled at fron; 40 to 50 miles an hour on the New Brighton route was contained in a letter received by the Hoathcot© County Council last night. Tho complaint of speeding came froiti the Inter-City bus service, a rival concern. Cr. W. W. Scarff: It's impossible for any bus to travel at that speed. The fastest bus belonging to the Ijamway Board can do no more, than 35 miles. Wo recently chased an Inter-City bus going at 2o miles from Cashel street to Buckley's Corner, and had it travelled at that speed through the Heathcote territory we would have laid an information. The bus pulled up in time, however. The chairman (Cr. C. Flavell) said the fast bus traffic was causing serious damage to the Brighton toad. The Council decided, on the motion of Cr. Scarff, to instruct the two motor inspectors to watch both buses, and to lay an information should either exceed the speed limit imposed by the Council'a by-laws, '
