SCOTTISH SOCIETY.

Tho monthly ceilidh of tho Scottish Socioty was hold on Thursday, whea there was a full attendance ot members, families, and friends. Chief John S. Chisholm presided, supported by his Chieftains. The Chief, in his opening remarks, stated that since tho last gathering 'one of their highly esteemed members, Mr John Sinclair, had passed away, and requested Piper Fowler to play a lament. Reference wus also made to tho deaths of two members' wives. Attention was culled to the concert next Thursday, the 20th inst. Nominations for membership were presentod. Tho Chief welcomed those present, including men of tho American Navy. Piper Fowler opened with a selection on the great Highland war pipe. Tho following items were rendered during the evening:—Selections by the Society's Pipo Band; songs by Mrs Pearce, Misses M. Aitcheson, M. P. Donaldson, and Mr Farrant; monologue by Miss Thier; musical selections by Mr Woodward's Trio; dances, nnd reels by tho juveniles; Highland fling, Misses McLeod, Teinpleton, and Anderson; Soaunn Triubhais, Miss 15. Pc-ddie; Gillio Calum, Miss Dent; hornpipe, Miss Anderson; Reel of Tulloch, Misses Pcddie, Gumblett, Forbes, ar.d Dent. Tho accompanists were Mr McQuarrie and Miss McClathy.
