RANGIORA. The Celtic Club met on Tuesday evening. Mx P. V. Mcßrearty presiding;. The programme was a • debate, "Which Would bo tho Better Form of Government for >"cw Zealand—Vfi-form-Liboral or Labour-Liberal. The winners of the previous debate met Labour. After a very interesting debate the Liberal Party* were declared the winners. ROTHERHAM. ' At a meeting of the Hall Committee there were present: The Rev. Dyer (chairman), Messrs Robinson, Clarke, Jelf, Thomson and Moor. It was decided to continue the euchre evenings. ■ A team, from; Culverden played a "local team on the Domain. There was a large number of spectators, who witnessed a fast and exciting game, which resulted in a draw. Robinson for Eotherham and Davifon for Culverden scored tries, neither of which was converted. Mr C. T. Moor was .referee. On Tuesday afternoon Mrs Robinson presided over a meeting of ladies in the hall to decide on a date for a sale of work to dispose of the goods left from the bazaar held'in December,: the proceeds of which will assist in paying oft* the debt remaining on the hall. PARNASSUS. An enjoyable evening was spent .in the schoolroom when a euch'ro party and dance, were held. The proceeds were in aid of the library fund. The prizes were won by' Mrs Hickey and Mr J. Lancaster, consolation prizes going to Miss C. Leaman and Mr'C. Barnard. Music for the dance, which followed, was supplied by Messrs Hill and Davidson. CHEVIOT. At a meeting of the Cheviot Branch of the Plunket Society, Mrs A. Gillanders presided over a good attendance. It was reported- that tho Public Hall Committee had granted the .society the use of tho lounge for meetings and as headquarters .for the Plunket nurse. A (vote of thanks was passed to the loommittee. A deputation was appointed to wait on the Cheviot County Council to ask for their co-operation and assistance in the work of the society. It was agreed to hold general meetings on the third Thursday in each month. . At the monthly meeting of the Presbyterian Ladies' Guild Mrs E. Swinerd presided. The Flower Show Committee submitted a report on the business transacted at its meeting held at the residence .of Mrs Fraser, sen. A number of articles for tho work stall were handed in. Afternoon tea was Kerved. Tho Cheviot ladies' hockey team travelled to Waiau, and after an interesting game a draw, two .goals each, was the result. The competition will be continued on Saturday, when a> team from the Hapuku Club will visit Cheviot. . . , : After an interval of three weeks, .the Hurunui Rugby Football Sub-Union's competitions will he resumed'ori ißaturday, when the Cheviot teams will travel to Waikari. : A meeting of spinsters and benedicts was. held for the purpose of making arrangements for a ball. WAIKARI. A meeting-of the presidents of the various branches of the Wuipara County Plunket Society *as held, at-.the residence of Mrs B. L. Blunden. Present: Mesdunes Acton-Adams '' tScarpllMotonau), Blunden (Waikan), "!"', (Hawarden), Cameron (Wairara), <j»-. landers (Cheviot), Mrs C. \. Jackman, Mr W. T. Lindsav and Dr. Jennings. Mrs L. Macfarlane (Culrerden) was unavoidably absent. The work of ■■>■!* past year was reviewed and - greao satisfaction expressed frith the results obtained and with'the splendid way in which Xurse Walker had carried om> her duties. A meeting of the School Committee and householders was held in the Hawarden Hall to receive the report of the deputation that had waited on the Board of Education. Mr A. E. M.cElwain occupied the chair. A letter was received from the wnkari School Committee stating ' that thev had not had time to go fully into the matter, but would be pleased to confer with the committee at a later date and wished the promoters every success in their venture. The secretary was instructed to .reply that the committee would be only too pleased to meet them and discuss the Consolidated School at Hawarden. Messrs J. Heasley and W. L Wright reported on behalf of the deputation, stating that,they had been veiy favourably received, practically all the members of the Board being in favour of the proposition. They recommended that a sub-committee be elected to go fully into the matter of securing suitable sites for inspection by the members of the Board when they visited Hawarden and also to work out the routes, means of transport and cost so that, they would hare every thing in order for the (visit. . A motion was carried that the chairman of each School, Committee, together with Mr J.' Heasley, representing the householders, he elected a subcommittee to go fully into the matter and report at a later date. A hearty vote of thanks to Messrs G. Gray, W. N. Hewett, and J.-.Quig-ley for the offer of the use of. their cars for the conveyance of the members of the Education Board around the district when they arrived brought the meeting to a close.
