MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The executive of ; the Christehurch Beautifying Association met yesterday afternoon. ' : Present: Messrs A.-Dudley Dobeon (chairman), K. B. Owen, and E. H. Andrews, and Dr. C. Chilton. • Dr. •Chilton reported regarding the conference held with Mr F. W. Furkcrt, Engineer-in-Chief, Public- Works Department, regarding the proposed additions to the old Provincial Government' Buildings. Mr ; Furkcrt had told the speaker arid Mr Owen that it was a temporary job upon which only £ISOO was being spent. It had been decided not to go on with the building of conveniences on the site originally selected. The report was received. A discussion took place regarding the lighting of the paths through ■ North Haglcy. Park to Kiccarton and Feudalton, and Mr Owen stated; that as regards the City Council's original idea of' erecting overhead wires, the Electricity Committee was holding the matter up pending a decision to put the mains underground. The extra expenditure was estimated at £.300. On his motion, seconded by Mr Andrews, it was decided' that the Association should vote'£so towards the sum and endeavour to raise a further £SO from those who signed the petition asking that the paths should be lighted. It was' also decided to -get into communication with the Riccarton Borough Council, the Waimairi County, Council, and the Domains Board on the subject: the Domains Board is to be. asked either to • give a grant of money or get its staff to prepare the trench for tho mains to the satisfaction of the City Electrical Engineer.
