Yosscler a, Tuesday's meeting of the Industrial Association., when a eommnuication from the Canterbury Association was wad. stating .that that Association ivas of the opinion- thatindustrial, commercial, and labour associations should confer and arrive at some uniform plan for observance ot holidays, which for various reasons mav IV '-declared" by the Mayor a. short notice, or which are not provided for iu the statutes or awards. The Canterburv -executive suggesr.ee. that ir, was not in the interests ot omplowr or employees that factories frhonld be closed on extra days unless there was some particular Junction callin-r for public, attendance, am! that in such ea«es. time off should infrom noon only. A proper mettiod oi observance of national mourning or respect, it was su jested, was liveminutes' silence and complete cessation of work, puch as was observed on the anniversary of Armistice Vnv. The proposals made bv the Canterbury Association are to be conveyed to member* of the Wellington Association by circular, and will be considered at tlicir next meeting.
