FRANCO-GERMAN TRADE.
NEGOTIATIONS SUSPENDED.
(BT CABLE— PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPTBIGST.) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.)
LONDON, July 7,
The Paris correspondent of "The Times" states that Franco-German, trado negotiations are again suspended owing to tho Germans' rejection of the French proposals which contained important. concessions. Tho Germans, however, considered that they did not assure Germany a position on tho French market equivalent to that offered France on the German market. It is again alleged' that Germany is deliberately putting ofF commercial settlement until certain political objects have been attained, particularly the evacuation of the Ruhr and Cologne, hut it is pointed out that Berlin is probably more influenced by fear of a 'serious* fall in tho franc resulting in a flood of imports from France. It stated that the two Governments are taking steps to maintain contact with a view to later conversations.
