Shipments of New Zealand produce arrived this week per the Port Wellington and Mamari. HEMP. ' Manila market is active and prices advanced. "J" grade August-October shipments sold at £42 10s, and quoted at the close £44 sellers. New Zealand steady. Highpoint in .dock sold at £35, and July shipments onwards at same price.,. Good business reported in Fair, July shipments £32. Tow in fair demand. No. 1 sold at £27, No. 3 £23. WOOL. Bradford market somewhat better tone this week. Present quotations are: Tops about Id below last week. OATS. Onlv small business passing. No.. 2 Canadian Western offered at 30s 6d. June shipments. New Zealand "A" June shipments nominal value about 31s c.i.f. English good. White make 32s 6d to 33s 6d per 3361b. . PEAS. Maple Partridge very little demand for spot or for shipments. New Zealand exBtore offered at 67s 6d to 72s 6d; Tasmanian j 75s to 82s Sd. No. 1 New Zealand sale reported at 68s c.i.f. "A" Tasmanian quoted at 70s to 73s 6d c.i.f. Blue fair.' Demand for Japanese and Dutch continues. Japanese green have been sold at £22 15s per ton May or' June shipments. English crop yield expected to be light on account of dry weather. BEANS. Very little business has been done. English spring offered up to 545, winter 48s. New crop Chinese Horse ■ offered July-Sep-tember shipments £lO 7s 6d without finding buyers. Prices for new crop Danish cocksfoot opened about 73s f.o.b. Copenhagen. August-September shipments, but offered sinco at 70s to 71s. APPLES. Port Wellington shipment Newtown pippin unsatisfactory on account of internal browning, other '-'srls fairly .good. Market slow and prions- same as last week. Weather warmer. TALLOW.' • Market quiet. English, Danish, Dutch and Belgian 15s to 17s Gd per long 10/); Irish, French and Italian 13k lid to 15s per long 100; Lithuanian and liussian 10s bd to 10s 6d per loug ioo. . . , : ' ASHBURTON MARKET. -I Tliera was a small entry and a small attendance at the Tinwald yards yesterday. The entry included 219 fat ewes, 21 fat lambs, 55 store lambs and nine head of cattle.' Mainly owing to the short market fat ewes appreciated by 2s a head as compared wirli last week's rates. Tno principal sales were:Ewes, 11 at 27s lOd, 11 at 2Ss 7d, 18 at ■>9s ad 11 at 27s Id. 9 at 275, 42 at 275, 23 at 25s 3d. 13 at 28s Id, 13 at 275, 19 at 25s 9d, 23 at 26s Cd. Lambs, 12 at 335, 6 at 25s 3d, 3 at 18s 6d. Stores—A line of 55 wether hoggets sold a " Cattle—Cows in profit realised £2 2s 6d to £5 ss. SPRINGSTON STOCK SALE. The monthly stack sale was held on Mondjv, there being a good attendance oi farmers'. 'The varding was comparatively poor. The onlv sheeo sold were 13 fat ews at 33s and" 2 fat lambs at 32s:_ Springing h»if>i'S made £2 10s to £8; third and fourth calvirs £5 to £10; store.cows 276.£ d to 50s, and calves from 25s upwards. Porkers sold at £4 upwards, big slore3 at £2 to £2 10s, medium at 25s to 31s, and weaners from 17s upwards. N.Z. INSURANCE COMPANY. I (FKBBS ASSOCIATION T«LBOEAIt.) AUCKLAND. July .7. The directors of the New Zealand Insurance Co have decided to recommend to shareholders at the 'annual meeting next month the payment of a dividend of lOd per share for the half-year, making a total disbursement for the year of Is 7d. The directors also intend to recommend that the sum of £150,000 be transferred from reserves to capital, thereby increasing the paid-up capital to £1,050,000.
