HOCKEY.
NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. The Management Committee of the New Zealand Hockey Association met last evening. Present—Messrs H. S. J. Goodman (chairman), C. Bellamy, G. S. Straok, A. Drayton, 11. Gracie, H. Throp, W. J. Franklin, and W. H. Down. The "Wellington Association wrote approving of the draw for the first day of the tournament, and also of the suggestion that the tournament should be conducted on the two-life principle. The first day's draw is as follows: Wellington Av. Auckland, Wellington Bv. Kelson. The match between Canterbury and Otago will be played later in the tournament. The New Zealand Rugby Union wrote stating that the arrangement for a deputation to the Government in reference to the use of the title "All Blacks" had lapsed. The New Zealand Hockey Refereeß' Association forwarded a report of the business of the annual meeting. The Auckland Association wrote forwarding the amount of their guarantee for the 'Australian visit, and nominating the following rejerees:—Test match, Mr L. Kent; Auckland v. Australia, Messrs J. B. Steel, G. Waddingham, and 11. B. Speight. The nomination of Mr J. B. Steel was approved as one referee, the selection of the second referee in all matches being left to the Australian team. The Waikato and Wairarapa Associations forwarded the amounts of their guarantees. - Manawutu nominated Mr Cousins as referee, and asked for fullest information regarding the personnel of the Australian team. The Waikato Association also approved of the suggested alteration in the itinerary, which included Kotoma! Mr W. Roth well, manager of the Australian team, wrote stating that the Australian' Association approved of the Manning Memorial proposal. The South Canterbury Hockey Association wrote forwarding the amount of its-guaran-tee, and spoke enthusiastically of the arrangements that were being made for the match at Geraldine. The appointment of Mr A. Stead was approved, the second referee being left to the approval of the visitors. _ _ I The Nelson and Canterbury Associations forwarded their guarantees,, leaving only one! Association whoso guarantee money was outstanding. The Canterbury Association nominated the following referees:—Test, Mr C, Bellamy; Canterbury v. Australia, Messrs C. Bellamy and R. Gracie and L. L. Smith. Mr R. j Gracie was appointed as one referee, the other referee being left to the visitors. The Canterbury Association also forwarded a suggested arrangement for the entertainment of the visitors. Mr W. H. Down was approved as one referee m the Zanol Cup match, if played at Wellington. Numerous telegrams to and from the Prime 1 Minister and the Railway Department in reference to the Railway Department's action in refusing to grant the visitors a concession on the Auckland limited' express from Wellington to Auckland were read. The Department absolutely declined to agree to grant any concession on the limited, but suggested that the team should travel on the limited second-class or on the ordinary express at concession rates.
