Dramatic scenes marked the opening of the trial of Angerstein. charged with murdering eight persons, his wife, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, maid servant, two gardeners and two clerks. Angerstein calmly described how he stabbed somo of tho victims, and chased and killed others with a chopper. He admitted ha had lived happily with his wife. Counsel read a letter written by the wife befoio her death, in which she wrote: -'Make a grave for me in some quiet spot with a place for you beside me, and when I am gone, love her still who was true to you till death." There was scarcely a dry eyo in court after the letter had teen read, but Angerstein listened unmoved.
