ASHBURTON. Road Boards. At the monthly meeting of the Wakanui Bond Board, held yesterday, there were present: Messrs F. Frampton (chairman), W. Anderson, L. Ilaiirakan, J. -Watson, and A. Hight. Beports presented showed that very little damage had been caused by the recent Hood. ! Ashburton Road Board was held yesterday. Present: Messrs H. Morris (acting chairman). T. J. Lemon, I?. Houston, ana 8. H. Lill. The financial statement showed a credit balance of £IOOS ISs lOd. Mr J. O'Connor, of Chertsey, wrote asking the Board to clear the gorse on its reserve bordering on his property on the Main South road. The matter was left in the hands of the member for the ward. The County Council advised that it was paying Is Od per dozen for birds' heads. Mr Houston reported that the creek at the corner of Walnut avenue and Mill Creel; road required covering. It was decided to have the work carried out. The clerk was instructed to make arrangements to have Allison street in Allenton formed. It was resolved to apply to the County Council for pipes to cover waterraces on Cavendish and Braemar-Lynd-hurst roads. It was further decided to ask the Council to take over the lighting system in Allenton. The work of forming the footpaths on AJford Forest road was also referred to the Council. The clerk was instructed to write to various ratepayers, asking them to clear gorse on the road fronting their property. A meeting of-St. Mark's vestry was held iu the vicarage on Monday, thcBev. E. In. Elakiston presiding. Three tenders for the- erection of a new vestry were received, and that of Messrs Haslett and Street was accepted. A discussion took place as to the best means of raising money for St; Anne's Home, Ohristchureh. The offer of Mrs Cooke to hold a coin afternoon at her residence was accepted. It was also decided to place tho matter before the Mothers' Union.. It was decided ■to have the entrance to tho schoolroom concreted. The matter of building a. concrete safe in the new vestry was held over. It was docided to have the vicarage roof attended to. The cleaning of the schoolroom was left in the hands of the lady members of tho vestry. At a meeting of Lodge. Eakaia, No. So, 1.0.0. F., on Monday evening, the half yearly installation of officers took place. Bro. F. Wilson presided. An appeal was received from the Opotiki Lodge on behalf of the widow and children of a lato brother. It was decided to send a donation. One candidate was proposed for initiation. The installation of offi cers was carried out by Bro. E. Croy, D.D.G.M., assisted by the following officers: Bro. A. Garland, D.D.G. Marshal; Bro. J. Swain, D.D.G.W.; Bro. W McKie, D.D.G.S.; Bro. A. F. Kcnnctt, DD.G.G. The new officers installed were:—l.P.G., Bro. F. Wilson; N.G., Bro. C. Burns; V.G., Bro. S. F. Campbell; secretary, Bro. D. iSTcwman; treasurer, Bro. C. Shannon; conductor, Bro. C. Shannon, on behalf of the Rakaia Lodge, thanked Bro. Croy and his officers, and congratulated them on the excellent manner iu which they had carried out the installation ceremony. Bro. Croy, D.D.G.M., suitably replied, and invited the brethren of Lodge Rakaia to attend the Chertsey installation on July 23rd. After the closing of the lodge, supper was served and a pleasant social hour was spent.

METHVEN. The weather at Methven on Moilday was fine with a light nor'-west Wowing, conditions which did not last long, us rain commenced to fail yesterday morning and continued all day.
