The many friends of Mrs Fred Tattle, who recently underwent an operation iu "The Limes" private hospital, will be pleased to hear that she is making satisfactory progress towards recovery. An. enjoyable tennis match between teams from the Avonside and Opawa. Tennis Clubs was played at the Opawa courts yesterday afternoon, and resulted in a win for Avonside by 118 games to 99 games. The Avonside Club was represented by Miss May Speirs, Mrs Donaldson, Miss Muirson, Mrs Mottram, Mrs B'allan, Miss M. Dorman, Mrs Price, Mrs Bullock, Mrs Fleming, and Miss Whitta. The Opawa players were Misses Lorna Saunders, Merle Miller, Mavis Saunders, E. Bowron, Mrs Fred Armstrong, Mrs Steeds, Miss Reid, Mrs Tregear, Mrs Brooke, and Miss Travers. The Christ church Division of St. - John Ambulance Brigade met on Wednesday. Mrs Coombs wore a frock of black satin charmante relieved with gold lace, while Miss Phyllis Coombs's , frock was of cyclamen pink crepe de i chine and lace. The members of the Technical Collego Past and Senior Students' Association held its annual ball last night in the Winter Garden, .where Sutherland's Jazz Band supplied spirited music. The marriage of Miss Matilda Orme, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs A. W. Orme, Robinson's Bay, to Mr Robert Cyril Ingram, of Wellington, an officer in the Union Steam Ship Co.'s service, was solemnised at Trinity Church, Akaroa, last Friday afternoon. The Rev. F. J. Tylee performed the ceremony. The church had been prettily decorated by girl friends of the bride. Mrs C. Hall presided at the organ, playing the "Wedding March" as the happy couple left the church. Tho bride, who entered the church on her father's arm, wore a dainty frock of grey marocain, simply made with long, tight-fitting sleeves, and a smart grey hat trimmed with an ostrich plume. She carried a beautiful bouquet of white chrysanthemums and maidenhair ferns. The only bridesmaid was Miss Mary Orme, sister of the bride, who wore a beautiful frock of electric blue marocain, slightly frilled at the sides, with a black hat to match. Her bouquet was of chrysanthemums . and maidenhair fern. Mr Noel Duxbury acted as best man. After tho ceremony a reception was held in the Kowhai Te3 Rooms, where (Continued at foot of next column.)
