NEW BRIGHTON ESPLANADE
TO THZ ZDITOR Or "TH* »SSB." Sir,— Surely it's time our New Brighton Borough Council commenced extending the esplanade from ono «md of the borough to the other. In all English seaside resorts the esplanade in the greatest attraction—take Brighton, Eastbourne, Scarborough, or any other place and you will find the walks and drives by the seaside most popular every where. In New Brighton wo arc tnxed practically 8 per cent, on the unimproved value, and owners have no chance of building, not being able to get their building material on to their sections, and even if they did, where are the levels? It is true there are a few small batches or whatever you like to term them, but I for ono feci certain that many people would pnt up good substantial buildings facing the sea, were the Council to do something instead of spending 60 much money round the pier. If tho Council would only form the road many owners would build. As it is they are paying heavy rates, and aro practically prevented from improving their property through the apathy of the Council. Thß increase in population would do far more to expedite easy facilities for getting to and from tho city by trams or private busesit matters littlo which. In Bouth Brighton, especially we have a beautiful park and if. the track down from Pleasant Point were extondod along tho seashoro, in twcl/o months' time I have every reason to believe that many valuable buildings would take the place of sand etc., WELL WISHEB.
