Sydney reports that the Crown Law authorities have intimated that a nolle prosequi will be entered in the case wherein Joseph Bolland was committed for trial in connexion with the deaths of John and Mary Gurr. It was alleged that accused ran them » down in a motor-car and did not stop. A Perth cahle states that the Caterers' Employees' "Union ~ has decided to accept tlie recommendations of the Disputes Committee, and work will be resumed to-day. The terms of the settlement have not been disclosed. The strike followed the'employers' refusal to approve of the insertion in a new agreement of the specified preference to unionists which they regarded aB an attempt' to enforco job control. A message from Rome states that the Sicilian Prince and Princess Discori, whose combined fortunes amount to millions, have renounced their positions as social leaders. The prince has entered a monastery at Monza, and the princess one at Modona. They are forty years of age and have no children. They have given no explanation for the step they have taken. A New York cable says: Mr Donald Parsons, a millionaire Stock Exchange operator, of Chicago, after visiting a number of cabarets, was taken homo by a policeman. The latter remained, and during the night was awakened by a smell of smoke. The fire brigade was called out, but was unable to quell the fire before Parsons and Mb son, Vivian, were burned to death. The affair, which allegedly -followed domestic trouble, is surrounded with much mystery.
