PROVINCIAL CONFERENCE. (FUSS ASSOCIATION TILIGRAJt.) DUXEDIS, June 2. At the annual meeting of the Otago ProTincial branch of the New Zealand Farmers' | Urnon to-day, Mr F. Waite was elected pre- ' sident. The following remits were adopted:— That the ward system be adopted for the election of the Meat and Dairy Control Beards. That legislation be provided to enable the Meat Control Board to use its accumulated iur.ds to purchase any freezing works which are forced into iiquid-atiou, and that in order Jo have funds available ior such a purpose Ihe Board collect the maximum levy allowed bv the Act. "That this conference supports the Dominion president in his efforts to establish an agricultural bank. That the Department of Agriculture be asked to investigate why once badly infested rabbit areas have been abandoned' by rabbits, there being no apparent motive. That conference considers the price of superphosphates excessive, and asks the Government to investigate the cause with a view to a reduction. That in the opinion of conference it is desirable that the Farmers' Union should keep out of party politics and adhere strictly to the policy followed in the past. That the Government be asked* not to relax it 3 vigilance in connexion with stock leaving an area, affected with cattle tick. A remit that the Union endeavour to have Btarted co-operative manure works, was referred to the incoming executive. The question of the amalgamation of all hospital districts within each province under the control of one executive Board, was referred to a committee fcr a report. A motion that an adequate membership subscription be decided on by the Dominion ! Conference to be uniiorm. throughout the Dominion was capjetf
